Writing For Anyone Who Wants to Write Your First Step to Getting on the Write Road

The purpose of this analysis is to help you identify your strongest skills and personal qualities and to target obstacles that may be holding you back.

Once you have read this and thought about it, you will be able to begin devising a plan that will enable you to achieve your writing goals .. and see your writing dreams come true!

First read through these ideas: Think about your writing desires and your personal qualities that will help you on your writing journey Think about obstacles that are holding you back from beginning or continuing and achieving your writing goals

Make a plus ( + ) and a minus ( - ) chart and be sure to balance every obstacle with a strength to counter it.

Next, write a short plan for building your strengths, while overcoming your obstacles. Now consider: How you can use your strengths to begin writing. For example: You are good at not being distracted. So every time you sit down to write set an alarm, beginning and ending time and stick with it until the alarm signals the end for that session. Use your strength to avoid any distractions. Sometimes a "do not disturb until....'oclock," sign will help you and make sure you get others to honor your time commitment, and not disturb you.

What is your biggest obstacle? Find a strength and a reason to turn that into a positive for your writing. For example: I can't find the time. Your greatest strength is your desire to write. Use that to look at your day. Everyone has downtime: waiting for a bus, standing in line.... Use those times to think about sitting and writing. Imagine yourself having that downtime and using it to get your ideas down on paper. Whether you talk into your phone, jot notes down, text or email yourself, bullet those concepts and then when you get a few minutes, sit down in a quiet place and expand on those ideas. That usually turns into the beginning of a great writing session. Use every tool at your Command - Start with Your desire to Write and build from there.
